Hello, May!

This is it. The start of craziness for this party of five. Literally, Par-tay for five! Anniversaries, Mothers and Fathers Day, all the kids have summer birthdays, so do Earl and I. So with all this craziness starting, I just revamped my running plan and am adding this 12k into the mix. For the trail of it.

In other running, or lack of, news. I skipped out on my big Bloomsday 2011 adventure. My excitement for this year started the second we left, last year. But, family calls. The bathroom called. It is, Just. About. Done. Makes bagging my girl weekend worth it (I won't lie, it was hard to see all the FUN posted on Facebook).

So what's next for me? The local Three Rivers Race, check it out here. A hundred-miler! Who else is participating? The last time I did was in 2009, I love this POST!

Marathon training this week,

Brought to you by 2 spin classes, 2 great runs (3.94 & 5.26 miles in length) and one awesome 11 miler bike ride with my Dad. 11 miles of Wind. I'm talking the kind of wind that the fastest you can push your road bike is 8 mph, downhill.

Not to forget the 5k stroll I mentioned in my previous post that I walked in with my mom. And all the other running around any mom does. I'm not going to discount any activity this week.

My real goal for this last week was to lift weights twice. But, that little thing called life somehow got in the way. Or to be completely honest, I hit snooze on my alarm one too many times to squeeze those weights in Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

I didn't pass on the below cupcakes though (which I made from scratch). Nope. Those and all the other yummy treats from the weekend is why I am going to get those weights and that third run in this week. Yes, I will.

Blah.

This might be the first, but it certainly won't be the last week during this long training schedule that I pretty much bomb. Don't get me wrong, I worked out. I spun my heart out twice. We had many family outings that resulted in activity. Like Anthony Lakes and walks to and from Central School. I went out for a run Sunday and was gone for 45 minutes. I walked for about 15 of those. So. Not. Feeling. It. Blah. Kind of like my little Morgann on ski's. You want me to mooovvvveee?

On a brighter note, the hubs and I had a super fun date night. I helped a great co-worker/friend retire in style. Complete with Jaeger and Lemon Drops. That might have something to do with the missed Shamrock Shuffle, 10K, I was supposed to participate in.

And even better than that? I found a running partner for Monday's during the lunch hour! Cheers, to better weeks of running. And the good life.

Monday, Monday

Time to report day. Week three down. I did more cross training this week then actual running. Monday, Wednesday and Friday I opted to rest. And although it seems like a lot of rest, spin onTuesday, Thursday and Saturday kicked my A$&. For real. I picked up my intensity and resistance all three days.

Since this is a marathon I'm training for, I did squeeze one run in on Sunday. 4.31 miles, mostly uphill or against the wind (bahahhahahaha). I am for real about that, too. It did feel awesome! Followed by weights at the Club with my hubby. During my run I listened to Pandora radio (since my iPod was dead) and used the iMapMyRun app. It left me wondering why I even purchase music on iTunes and what the heck we did minus our Droid's? Way back when.

My next big question. What marathon race am I going to sign up for? That might help with the motivation, too. I'm am about 98% going for the PDX marathon. A good trail run, might temp me otherwise.

Next up, a little Morgann update. Happy Monday.

Marathon Week #1

Holla! I actually stuck to my PLAN! 3 miles Monday, ok 2.5. Tuesday spin class. Wednesday 30 minutes on the treadmill. Thursday a super sweaty spin class. My Friday longer run, was less than the 6 needed, but longer-- and didn't take place until Sunday. On Friday E convinced me to do a weight work out with him. Saturday the SNOW BLAST with the family at Anthony Lakes, skiing counts for something!

Here's to another week of staying on track!

Run Stephanie, Run

I said back HERE, that I was pretty much committed to running a FULL marathon. The real deal. I've thought really hard and have decided that I am going to go forward with it. No quitting, this week anyway. I don't particularly LOVE to run. But. The way it makes me feel, is well worth every stride.

I found a cross training marathon plan by Hal Higdon. I've decided with my biking tendencies and my new found passion for lifting weights, this one would work best. The guide, after reading it a bazillion times, feels flexible. Because, to be honest I have NEVER followed a schedule. I looked at a triathlon training schedule, one for the half marathon I finished, and one for the STP. I never used them. I've always just done my own thing. For a marathon, my own thing won't work.

I need some accountability to MAKE this happen. So, my blog check - in day will be Monday. Marathon Monday, for now. Don't expect me to follow it exactly, but I plan on doing my BEST. Whatever that might be, we shall see.
