Mason,

Today you turn six years old. And although you've been saying you are already six, it is finally official at 1:53 PM. We celebrated Wednesday night with a shared party with your friend Aiden. He turned six on June 11. The theme was, yet again, sports. We invited all of the kids in your Heidi Ho Kindergarten class, most of them came plus a few of your other friends. You couldn't contain your excitement that day. Your smile and energy were obvious to anyone.
Both Mrs. Mielke and Mrs. Huntington shared that you were one of the most likable kids in class. You play with others while managing your cautious side. A side of you, like so many others, that I love and appreciate. You are always so aware of your surroundings, you always have been. At the last parade we went to, and we know there are many here, you wouldn't let Morgann out of your arms reach. And when the horses passed, you took her and MaKenna onto the sidewalk.
Being your mom is fun, 99.999% of the time. Of course we have our challenges, you could be the most stubborn six year old around. I am hoping that your strong willed ways will work in your favor but for now, it works against me. You make deals like the best of them and when we say no gum today, next time. You remember the next time and get your gum or whatever else you might have been after.
It doesn't seem possible that after this summer passes us by you will be a first grader. These six years have gone by too quickly for me and although I wish I could keep you this age forever, I know that I cannot. So instead I look forward to the next year of our journey together and the many years that will follow. I am so lucky to be your mom, it is a privilege, an honor.
Tonight we'll celebrate your birthday with your Daddy's family. You have picked Moy's for dinner, followed by an ice cream cake. Friday night we will be able to celebrate with Grandpa & JJ, and Michelle. Another cake, I'm sure. More presents and for certain lots of love. I love you, Mason! You brighten each and everyday of mine and so many others that you surround.
