I never feed the kids breakfast! Ok, maybe I should take a moment to clarify this. If Mason is going to school, then yes he gets a bowl of cereal or microwave oatmeal or a yogurt. Then MaKenna begs until she either gets a bite or something of her own--which is sometimes, eek a fruit snack. Of course I am not neglecting Morgann yet! She does get her bottle when wanted and needed without ever having to wait until we drive all the way to Gina's, 5 minutes away, but when you include my morning indulgence it ends up being more like 10 or so. And we are in summer mode now, so no breakfast necessary.
Last Tuesday I had been at work for almost 20 minutes when Gina called me. I always instantly worry when I hear her voice, is everyone ok? Better than ok? Of course, things were fine. She just wanted to check in to see if my kids had eaten breakfast. Pancakes to be specific. What? Not mine. Not on a Tuesday. Here's the story Mason told her as she started to prepare their breakfast that morning.
"Well, Gina I am not hungry. I already ate breakfast at home. In fact it was pancakes." Oh, says Gina, so you won't eat this breakfast if I make it for you. I think that made Mason think. Because his reponse was, "Well actually my mom made us pancakes and then she ate all of them." Like I gobbled up a plate full of pancakes in front of my kids, what kind of monsterish mom am I?
Of course she knew better and knew I could use the good laugh. To be honest, I can't remember the last time I made them pancakes! These pictures were from a typical school morning. I guess I wasn't late. They were just hanging out in my May 2009 folder and look they came in handy.
And look, MaKenna is giving me the face of: HA! I got what I wanted. Like Mason I shall be.
