Road Trip 2009

In about fifth or sixth grade I really wanted my mom to win the ultimate prize on Regis & Kathy Lee. It was a mini-van. A Mazda MPV to be exact. I can remember thinking how cool it'd be compared to the Maxima we were driving. My parents ended up buying a Ford Explorer shortly after she lost. Which to my surprise was fun. And not a minivan. I still can't picture my mom in a mini van.

I've never really pictured myself in one either. When we bought our wagon it took some major selling from hubby. After I got it though, I loved it. And loved it and loved it. I couldn't imagine having a trunk again. You just couldn't pile the stuff high enough.

When it was time to get rid of the wagon we talked for about 2 seconds about a van. The decision was HELL NO. Because although there was a time when I thought they were cool, it was only for a short time. Grandpa Ted thought for sure we'd be purchasing a van but could never get us to even test drive one. Sometimes I dream of them when we are traveling. But I've never really been in one.

For my oil change before our road trip Grandpa Ted picks up my Yukon and leaves me with...a mini VAN. Before I got into it to run some work errands I thought I am either going to love it or hate it. Happily I didn't like it. In fact I took it back prior to running my errands.

This weekend as we traveled to Middletown, California to visit some family our car worked wonderful. 13 hours in it and with our new seating options, we added a third row, everyone was quite happy. I know I am not a Van mom. I'm an SUV mom. Who's having a fabulous time with my family in California. We'll post pictures when we return!
