Went on a short hike the other day with our friends--Katie, River, Nora and their dog Solstice. Mason and MaKenna had a blast, so did Scout. Scout thought it was pretty cool to be off of his leash until he somehow managed to head in the wrong direction--I have never seen the dog so happy to see me.
The difference in kids is always interesting too. River, Mr. Daredevil himself and Mason Mr. Somewhat Timid. As we were walking along this, well kind of cliff, River was running and Mason clenching my hand. To get River to slow down Katie put the fear of wild animals in him, like bears and cougars and mountian lions...it didn't really work.
But, it worked for Mason. Oddly enough we went up to his Grandparents house later that night and what did we see while sitting on their porch, a bear. Mason screamed and ran in the house. It ended up being a huge ordeal because the bear was not going anywhere so fish and game had to go up there to chase it away with their hounds. Apparently the bear had been eating their plums in the night and just 30 yards from their house in some thick brush was where it has been living, scary!
